Vandals add additional secondary depth with signing of Gunn

Idaho football coach Thomas Ford Jr. announced the signing of UAB and Ellsworth Community College transfer Deion Gunn, a 5-foot-11 defensive back from Center Point, Ala.

Listed as both a cornerback and safety by multiple outlets, he starred primarily on the boundary at Ellsworth Community College while also getting reps at safety and at the nickel spot in 2025. In five games he racked up 17 total tackles, an interception, and eight pass breakups. He spent his true freshman campaign close to home, appearing in one game at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, just a 15-minute drive from his hometown of Center Point.

Gunn played his prep career at Clay-Chalkville High in Pinson, Ala., leading the Cougars to a perfect 14-0 record.

Gunn joins Sha’Heem Taylor and Daemon Fagan as the third addition to the Vandal secondary since the end of spring practice.
