Elisabeth “Libby” Ann Moothart, 72, of Lakeside, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, after a long battle with multiple health issues. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength and deep dedication to both her family and her work.

Libby was born on Dec. 24, 1953, and spent her life rooted in Montana. She was known for her independence, resilience and unwavering sense of purpose — qualities she carried into every part of her life.

For many years, Libby served as a juvenile probation officer, a role she approached with both professionalism and heart. She cared deeply about the young people she worked with and believed strongly in accountability, second chances, and helping others find a better path forward. Her work was more than a job; it reflected her values, and over the years she made a lasting impact on many lives through her commitment and compassion.

Outside of her professional life, Libby had a love for music and was an accomplished guitar player. Whether playing for herself or on Sunday mornings, music was one of the ways she expressed her faith in Christ.

Libby also had a deep love for the outdoors. She cherished time spent on Flathead Lake sailing and challenging you to survive her tube rides. As her health declined, spending time on a side-by-side ride became one of the simple pleasures she truly enjoyed and kept her connected to Montana. These moments reflected her appreciation for God’s creation and were an important part of who she was.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was at the center of her life, providing her strength, perspective and a hope of things to come. That faith shaped how she approached challenges and how she lived with conviction and purpose.

She was a devoted wife to her husband Boyd Moothart, and a proud mother to Jason (Drena) Moothart and Amanda (Justin) Garrison. She cherished her role as a grandmother to four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, taking pride in their lives, showing up, standing firm and caring deeply.

Libby will be remembered for her strength of character, her honesty and her deep compassion —  both in her personal life and in the work she chose to do. She lived with a strong sense of service, taking part in numerous community groups throughout the years and remaining committed to helping those around her.

She is survived by her husband Boyd, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
