Cory James Young, 40
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 4 days, 9 hours AGO
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cory James Young, who passed away June 7, 2026, in Boise, Idaho, with his mother and stepfather by his side. Cory was born Aug. 23, 1985, to Dixie and Ron Young. He joined his sister, Maurissa, to complete the family.
Cory graduated from Post Falls High School in 2004. School was easy for Cory. He had a knack for doing as little as possible but still brought home excellent grades. He was a gifted athlete and excelled in football and basketball in AAU leagues in both junior high and high school. He worked at Tidyman’s as a box boy and GW Hunters throughout high school and his first years of college, where his quick wit and infectious personality left a long-lasting impression on those who met him.
In 2007, Cory decided to head south to Boise to join friends and quickly fell in love with the true four seasons. He found a job in the banking industry and never looked back. He excelled in this business, earned his peers’ respect, and made lifelong friends, both customers and employees. He purchased his first home in 2009 at the young age of 24, something he was very proud of.
Cory loved food, was an amazing cook and was known for throwing spices and marinades together to make incredible dishes without a recipe. Cory was funny, often using wit and sarcasm to poke at or prod others, sparking discussion on topics that offered differing views. Although Cory had no children of his own, he loved his nephew, Jon, and his nieces, Maicie and Addie. He followed all their sports and cheered them on from afar or in person when he could. Cory was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Miami Heat and the NBA. Aside from sports, Cory enjoyed shows that were a little off-brand in the sense of humor category.
Cory is survived by his mother and stepfather, Dixie and Roger Ziegler; his father and stepmother, Ron and Kim Young; his sister, Maurissa Archer, stepbrother Skylar Ziegler, stepsister Ayreal Ziegler, his grandmothers, Janice Young, Adah Sedlmayer and Coleen Sharp, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, who all loved him very much.
There will be a celebration of life for Cory on July 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 2854 Killdeer Lane, Post Falls, ID 83854. Parking is on the west side of the property through the white fence by the shop. Kids are welcome. There will be a pool for swimming, games and great food as we celebrate the amazing memories of Cory.
