LeRoy E. Burt, 86

LeRoy E. Burt, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away June 22, 2026, at Mountain Valley of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation in Kellogg, Idaho. LeRoy was born Aug. 3, 1939, in Rosalia, Wash., a son of the late Eugene and Bernice (Hoffman) Burt. 

Early in his childhood, LeRoy’s family moved to the Silver Valley and LeRoy attended elementary school in Wardner. He graduated from Kellogg High School, Class of 1957, and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Zella Smith in 1967 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and they shared nearly 60 years of marriage. 

LeRoy worked numerous carpentry jobs throughout the Pacific Northwest and was a member of the carpenters’ union. Always working, which seemed to be his favorite thing to do, he was always an excellent provider for his family. He enjoyed building things for family and friends, playing horseshoes and cornhole and loved his neighbors and neighborhood in Pinehurst. 

LeRoy was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, Idaho, and was active in the men’s Bible study group. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Zella Burt of Pinehurst, Idaho; five children, Katie James of Rathdrum, Idaho, Jerry (Brandi) Burt of Colorado, Steven (Patricia) Burt of Kellogg, Idaho, Sean (Alecia) Burt of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Kelly (Vanessa) Burt of Pinehurst, Idaho; six grandchildren, Jesse, Garrett (Kaci), Emily, Hannah, Holly and Demetri; one great-granddaughter, Kynlee; five additional grandchildren and three additional great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a brother, David Burt (Pat) of Wardner, Idaho; a sister, Judy (Mack) McCallister of Baltimore, Md.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

LeRoy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Ron and Diane Sharp and to the nurses and staff at Mountain Valley of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation in Kellogg for the excellent care given to LeRoy during his final days. Your kindness will always be remembered.

Memorial services with military honors will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, Idaho, with a reception to follow. Inurnment will occur at Hunt Cemetery, Kingston, Idaho.
