Aubrey was born to LaVern and Edith Combs in Polson, graduating from Polson High School in 1966. After high school she became a Marine’s wife on Aug.31, 1966, when she got hitched to Robert “Pappy” Drebes in Wallace, Idaho.
Together they raised five children at their home in Pablo. She worked various jobs, but for nearly 50 years, loved working for Fleming Farms, driving truck, sorting, grading and digging potatoes, where she made many lifelong friends.
Aubrey was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as well as Skyliners 4x4 Club, and M4x4A. She loved creating a lifetime of memories in the great outdoors with family and friends.
She enjoyed tending her garden, hunting, fishing, camping, racing jeeps across Montana and Wyoming, and being the best damn camp cook around, even creating luxurious Thanksgiving meals on a small propane cook stove. Many delightful adventures were formed around camp at Big Creek.
Aubrey is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill, Jim, Vern and Dale, sisters Alice, Donna and twin sister Audrey Whittig, and grandson TJ.
Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Robert “Pappy” Drebes; sister Zina; children Amanda, Flora, Shelly, Albert and Christipher; grandchildren Derick, Robert, Chad, Nathan, Mckennzie, Erica and William; adored niece Ann, numerous nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. in Pablo at the Church of the Nazarene, with graveside services at Ronan cemetery following. A reception followed back at the Church of the Nazarene.
