Land to Hand presents the 11th annual Free the Seeds event on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Arts and Technology Building at Flathead Valley Community College.

This free, family-friendly event celebrates seed saving, gardening, education, and community.

The event will feature a seed giveaway with access to over 7,000 packets of seeds, all hand-packed and donated by members of the community and Land to Hand Volunteers. Over 20 free educational workshops will be offered throughout the event.

Workshop highlights include: Seed Starting and Transplant Basics with Cassady Daley of Raven Ridge Farm; Making The Harvest Last, How to Properly Store the Fruits of your Labor with Hans Helmstetler of Snow Country Gardens; Growing Your Own Herbal First Aid Kit with Elaine Sheff of Green Path Herb School.

In addition to the workshops, Free the Seeds will have children’s activities provided by the Skola throughout the entire event, a community room showcasing local businesses and non-profit organizations, hands-on crafting and skill-building activities from the Making Place, and three food trucks providing lunch options.

Free the Seeds is a community-focused event designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources necessary to grow their own food. The event is free, with a suggested donation of $5 per person, or $10 per family.
