Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 6 days, 12 hours AGO
Randy Mark Wegner, 62, of Kellogg, Idaho, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Feb. 25, 2026, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. Randy was born Feb. 11, 1964, at the former Providence Hospital in Wallace, Idaho, a son of Alfred and Ina May (Cook) Wegner.
Randy graduated from Kellogg High School with the Class of 1982, where he was a proud member of the Wildcats football and basketball teams. Following high school, he attended the University of Idaho. After college, Randy married Angie Cegnar in 1985. The couple later divorced. Randy went on to build a dedicated career with FedEx, where he worked for more than 25 years. His delivery route through Hayden and Dalton Gardens allowed him to form lasting friendships at nearly every stop. His fellow FedEx employees became like a second family and will miss him dearly.
An avid music enthusiast, Randy attended many concerts with his brother, Rex — their first featuring AC/DC and Aerosmith. His love of music remained a constant throughout his life, and he later took up playing the electric guitar. Randy was also a devoted fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Huskies, rarely missing a game, whether on television or in person. He enjoyed spending time shooting with his brother and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
Family meant everything to Randy. Though he had no children of his own, his nieces and nephews were like his own, and he treasured the time spent playing football with them and creating memories they will carry forever. Randy also had a special love for animals and adored his two cats, Rosie and Carrie, whom he spoiled endlessly.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Wegner.
He is survived by his mother, Ina May Wegner of Kellogg; his sister, Diane (Danny) Smith of Pinehurst; his brother, Rex Wegner of Kellogg; four nephews, Todd (Trisha) Wegner of Tennessee, Rudy (Erica) Wegner of Spokane, Wash., Andrew Wegner of Spokane, and Luke (Tianne) Smith of Cataldo; one niece, Autumn (Bryce) Olberding of Post Falls; four great-nephews, Dayton Wegner, Trace Wegner, Bronson Smith, and Mason Olberding; three great-nieces, Mya Wegner, Huxlee Smith, and Hailey Olberding; his entire FedEx family; and his beloved feline companions, Rosie and Carrie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Idaho’s Schneidmiller House (www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org) or to the Silver Valley Cat Wranglers, P.O. Box 995, Osburn, ID 83849.
