Valkyries No. 1 seed in Western A tournament

The Bigfork girls tip off the Western A divisional basketball tournament Thursday as the top seed from the Northwest.
They'll face the Southwest's No. 4 seed and tournament host Hamilton in the opening round. Game time is 8 p.m.
Bigfork is 15-5 overall and is coming off a convincing 48-38 victory over Columbia Falls in its regular season finale Feb. 20.
Whitefish is the No. 2 seed from the Northwest A and will face Corvallis in the opening round. No. 3 seed Columbia Falls plays Frenchtown and No. 4 seed Browning takes on top-seed Dillon.
The top four teams move on the state tournament March 12-14 in Great Falls.
