As a child, Dennis — affectionately called Denny by his family and friends — grew up in a farming family in the LaSalle community.

He graduated from Flathead High School in 1966. While in school, he was active in 4-H and FFA, where he earned his State Star Farmer degree. One of his proudest accomplishments was having the Grand Champion Market Steer at the Montana State Fair.

Over the years, he was an avid stock car and snowmobile racer. He was inducted into the Northwest Montana Stock Car Racing Association Hall of Fame in 2024.

Dennis married Janice Gresham on February 14, 1970. They had two sons, Shawn and Darren.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Florence Borgen; his sister, Thea Borgen; his in-laws, Haskell and Katherine Gresham; and his brother-in-law, James Gresham.

He is survived by his wife and lifelong girlfriend, Janice Borgen; his son Shawn and wife Amy, and grandchildren Thane, Taryn, and Talon; his son Darren and wife Janelle, and grandchildren Fjord and Loxley, all of Columbia Falls; his sister Vicky Brookman of Cochis, Arizona; his sister Wendy McCaffree and husband Ernie McCaffree of Columbia Falls; his brother-in-law Chris Brookman of Billings, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Valley Life Church, 1750 Talbot Road, Columbia Falls, Montana, at 1 p.m. on March 6, 2026.
