The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation brings the Mountainfilm on Tour to the big screen in Whitefish and Bigfork as part of a five-city circuit around the wilderness complex.
The Mountainfilm on Tour program brings a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and inspiring documentary films curated by the Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, Colorado.
The tour stops at the O’Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center, 1 Central Ave. in Whitefish on March 12 and the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts on April 3. The evenings will feature outdoor films from around the world that explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission of inspiring audiences to create a better world. There will also be a bucket raffle filled with a variety of outdoor gear, adventure trips and local goods.
“These films celebrate adventure, grit, and the power of wild places — things we’re lucky enough to witness every summer on our volunteer projects,” foundation Operations Director Allison Siems said. “We hope they leave people inspired to get out there and give back to the wealth of public lands we enjoy in Montana, like the incredible Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex right in our backyard.”
The Mountainfilm on Tour serves as a fundraiser for the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation’s volunteer trips into the 1.6-million-acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Each summer, the foundation organizes more than 40 low-cost trips, which bring participants into the remote wilderness to open trails and restore habitat.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the films start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online at bmwf.org/mountainfilm and at the door.
