BONNERS FERRY — Not only is it a chance to have fun, but it’s also an opportunity to help Foundations School raise funds.
The school is hosting the Gatsby Gala for Good, which will be held March 21. 1920s attire is encouraged. There will be dinner, a live auction and family testimonials.
Dustin Solt, director of fundraising at Foundations, said the gala, which will be held at the Great Northwest Territories Event Center in Naples, aims to raise needed funds to support its mission.
“The main goal of our Gatsby Gala for Good is to raise vital funds to support and strengthen Foundations School’s mission of providing a Bible-based, trade-focused K-12 education,” Solt said. “We are committed to developing students spiritually, academically and practically.”
The event allows the community to partner with the school in continuing that mission and “ensuring we can serve families for years to come,” he added.
According to Solt, funds raised from the gala will directly support school operations, classroom resources, student programs, and expanded trade and hands-on learning opportunities.
“Every dollar raised goes right back into equipping our students to succeed academically, spiritually and vocationally,” Solt said.
Fundraisers are essential to the continued existence of the school, school officials said.
“Fundraisers are essential to sustaining and growing our programs,” Solt said. “Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of providing high-quality education, hands-on trade experiences, leadership development and strong biblical instruction.”
Solt said the event is about more than fundraising.
“More than anything, we’re excited to bring our community together under one roof. It’s not just about fundraising — it’s about celebrating what God is doing at Foundations School,” Solt said. “This evening is an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been, celebrate where we are and cast a vision for where we’re going.
Solt said that Boundary County businesses and families are incredibly important to Foundations School and that they could not do what we do without their support, prayers and partnership.
Select students will serve and seat guests during the event, and a few will share personal testimonials during the evening.
“We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for them to develop leadership, hospitality and communication skills while taking pride in supporting their school community,” Solt said.
He explained why “The Great Gatsby” was the theme for the night.
“We wanted an evening that felt elegant, exciting and memorable — something that would bring energy and fun while still highlighting a meaningful cause,” Solt said. “It allows guests to dress up, enjoy a lively atmosphere and step into something special for the night, all while supporting an incredible mission.”
If attending isn’t possible, there are other ways to help the school.
“Community members can purchase tickets for family or friends, make a direct donation to the school or help spread the word by sharing the event with family, friends, local businesses or employers,” Solt said. “Most importantly, we always welcome and deeply appreciate prayers.”
