David Gilkison

David Gilkison, born on Aug. 6, 1946, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, passed away on Feb. 16, 2026, in Libby, Montana. He was 79 years old.

Over the years, Dave built a diverse career as a ranch hand, logger and crane operator on the Alaska pipeline and the oil fields of North Dakota. His adaptability was evident in every role he undertook.

A proud veteran, David served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his courage and commitment to others.

David had a deep passion for walleye fishing and cherished his time on the water. Fort Peck held a special place in his heart as one of his favorite fishing spots. Those who knew him will remember his love for the outdoors and the joy he found in casting a line.

He is survived by his daughters Sabrina Sidmore (Lloyd), Stephanie Pfeifer (Carl) and Brandi Turney (Josh). David also leaves behind five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory. 

He was predeceased by Marilyn Davis, his longtime partner.
