COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — The chase for NJCAA title No. 15 begins today at the Mid-American Center for the North Idaho College wrestling team.

NIC qualified all 10 wrestlers to nationals at the Region 18 Championships at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Ore., on Feb. 14.

NIC competitors are redshirt freshman Owen Pritchard (125), sophomore Hoyt Hvass (133), freshman Parker Ballantyne (141), redshirt freshman Joe Sullivan (149), freshman Colton Tucker (157) of Coeur d’Alene High, redshirt freshman Colton Theobald (165), redshirt freshman Dylan Block (174), freshman Seth Martin (184) of Post Falls High, redshirt freshman Jackson Lougen (197) and sophomore Ray Griffin (285).

NIC is seeking its first individual national champion since 2021, when Brant Porter won the 141-pound title. The Cardinals have not won an NJCAA title since tying with Labette for the 2013 title. Coach Derrick Booth, in his third year as head coach, was a member of that championship team.

Griffin was fourth at 285 last year. Hvass, a Lewiston High product, also qualified for nationals last year.

Indian Hills of Ottumwa, Iowa is the defending champion.
