STATE 1A BOYS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT: Coeur du Christ drops state opener

CALDWELL — Coeur du Christ, seeded seventh in the state 1A boys basketball tournament, shot 15 of 44, including 6 of 26 in the first half of a 58-37 loss to second-seeded Watersprings in an opening round game at Caldwell High on Thursday. 

Coeur du Christ (14-8) will face sixth-seeded Greenleaf Friends in a loser-out game tonight at 6.

Freshman Kamden Manuel had nine points and senior Jerome Cools added six points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Saints, who went 0-2 last year in their first full year as a member of the Idaho HIgh School Activities Association. 

Senior Korban Nelson had 22 points and seven rebounds for Watersprings (23-3), which faces Garden Valley in a semifinal game today at 1 p.m. PST.
