Change of plea set in Gabor case

SANDPOINT — A Bonner County resident facing severe allegations of child abuse and kidnapping is expected to enter a plea on the charges during a March 10 status conference.

Jordan Everette Gabor, 29, is scheduled to change his plea in the morning and will likely take a pretrial settlement that could potentially lessen his sentence.

Court documents indicate that an amended information was filed late February, which removed two charges of lewd conduct with a minor, first-degree kidnapping and battery of domestic violence. After four charges were removed, Gabor will enter a plea on felony charges of injury to child and second-degree kidnapping.

He was originally expected to stand trial March 11, 2026, for a four-day setting before the change of plea.

Gabor is facing up to ten years in prison for the alleged crimes. His then girlfriend, Taleea Martin, pleaded guilty to similar charges in June of injury to child, for which she was sentenced to serve ten years in prison.

While Martin is assisting in the case against Gabor, a guilty plea in her case does not legally affect his presumption of innocence.

Gabor remains at the Bonner County Jail on a $2.5 million bond.

He was arrested April 26 in Ogallala Neb., before being extradited back to Bonner County.

According to a criminal complaint, Gabor allegedly slammed a car door on the victim’s head, in addition to striking him numerous times with closed fists. Documents indicate that Gabor willfully caused the child to suffer unjustifiable pain.

In a sentencing hearing for Taleea Martin, it was noted that Gabor appeared to be the main aggressor of the abuse. Due to the highly sensitive nature of the case, more documents pertaining to both cases are sealed.

“Documents of materials contain highly intimate facts or statements. The publication of which would be highly objectionable to a reasonable person,” reads a motion to redact submitted by the court.

Anyone who suspects abuse should call the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office at 208-263-8417 or the Idaho Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-669-3176. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is also available for suspected child maltreatment at 800-926-2588.
