Chesebro announces run for District Judge

Lisa Chesebro has announced her candidacy for district judge, bringing nearly two decades of legal experience and a “deep commitment to fair, accessible courts,” according to a news release.

“Courts must remain accessible, fair, and grounded in the communities they serve,” Chesebro said. “I’m running to ensure every person who comes before the court is heard and treated with dignity and confident in a fair and thoughtful process.” 

Raised on a small farm with timber dollars, Chesebro said she learned early the values of hard work, resilience, and community. She earned her law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law while raising her young son, beginning a legal career focused on public service. 

Over the past 18 years, Chesebro has served as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney, including operating a small law office in Wallace. 

Chesebro currently serves as Trial Court Administrator for Idaho’s First Judicial District, where she works with judges, staff, and community partners to support court operations. She also serves on the board of the First District Bar Association. 

“Her experience on both sides of the courtroom has shaped her practical, solutions-oriented approach and reinforced her belief in the importance of impartial courts that treat every person with dignity and respect,” a news release said. 

Now a resident of the Silver Valley, Chesebro and her family are active in the local community. Her son graduated from Kellogg High School and is currently attending college.
