NIC director named to top 100 voices to follow list

North Idaho College Director of Disability, Health and Counseling Marie Macher was selected to the Top 100 shortlist for the 50 Voices to Follow in Higher Ed for 2026, an annual recognition organized by polling and Q&A platform Vevox.

The list is based on nominations submitted from higher education professionals around the world and highlights individuals contributing ideas, leadership and innovation across the sector.

Since joining NIC in 2025, Macher said she has focused on strengthening services related to accessibility and student well-being, helping remove barriers to education and support student success.

“I’ve felt supported in advancing work centered on access and inclusion, and I’m thankful to be part of a team that values that mission,” Macher said. “This recognition reflects the importance of ensuring students have the support and resources they need to succeed.”

According to Vevox, thousands of nominations were submitted from institutions across Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and South America.

From those nominations, judges selected 100 individuals for the shortlist recognizing their impact, leadership and influence across higher education.
