COEUR d’ALENE — The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man who is wanted for his alleged involvement in the sexual assault of a child in Kootenai County between 2003 and 2007.

Donald Steven Lang, 62, was charged last April with three counts of lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16 and a single count of sexual battery of a minor, according to a bulletin published by the FBI.

The FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office is helping the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office with the search for Lang, who was last seen on his sailboat, ISHI, in Hawaii in January 2025.

Lang is a white man with blue eyes and light brown and gray hair. He stands 5’8” tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He has multiple tattoos on his body, including a faded conch shell with the word “captain” above it on his right arm.

A Canadian citizen, Lang is based in Hawaii, but is known to sail around the world, according to the FBI. He is a sailor who does odd jobs, such as fixing boats, on the side.

He may be sailing somewhere between Hawaii and Fiji, Hawaii and Mexico, toward Papua New Guinea, or possibly Indonesia. He has ties to, or knows people in, Hawaii, Idaho, Washington state, California, Fiji, the Marquesas Islands, Mexico and Canada.

To submit information about this case, the public can contact their local FBI office or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.

AC Sheriff Wagner to run for reelection

RITZVILLE — Adams County Sheriff Dale Wagner will run for reelection this year, he announced earlier this week. “Serving as sheriff since 2015 has been the greatest honor of my life,” Wagner wrote in the announcement. “Leading the dedicated men and women of our sheriff’s office means a great deal to our community, and to me, because a strong, professional, and committed team directly impacts the safety and well-being of every citizen.” Wagner, a veteran of the ACSO with more than 28 years of experience, was elected sheriff in 2015 after working as a deputy, then as a detective, a sergeant and eventually as undersheriff, according to the announcement. He cited the ACSO’s work to upgrade the jail, update equipment and training and work with youth among his successes.
