A Troy woman is facing charges after she allegedly broke into a garage and stole a maul and an ax.

Cara Ann Mohar, 39, is accused of felony burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief following an alleged incident Dec. 11, 2025, in Troy.

Her bail was set at $10,000.

According to the charging document, Troy police officer Ian Smith responded to a residence on West Missoula Avenue where a woman said Mohar had taken a splitting maul and ax from her garage. The alleged victim said she had security camera footage of the incident.

Smith reported he was familiar with both parties due to a previous incident.

Smith reported, after watching the video footage, that Mohar entered the garage, looked around, then pulled her pants down and urinated next to the alleged victim’s car. Mohar then picked up the maul and ax from a pile of wood and left the garage. The maul and ax belonged to the woman’s boyfriend.

During a walk through of the garage, Smith reported seeing a wet spot on the ground near the woman’s car. He also saw two distinct smashes on the windshield where the glass was broken.

The windshield damage was estimated at $200 while the ax and maul had an estimated value of $60 each.

Six days later, Dec. 17, Smith met with the defendant and a friend at the police station. Mohar said there had been ongoing issues between her and the two alleged victims during the last six years. She accused them of various acts, but Smith noted they were not reported to authorities. There was one exception and the alleged victim wanted the charges dropped.

Mohar also said the woman broke her son’s car windshield the prior week. Smith reported Mohar became emotional and said she couldn’t explain exactly what happened because she was very drunk, had “blacked out” and “lost three hours.”

Mohar also said she had a tex thread between herself and the male victim where he indicated if she returned the stolen items, he would drop the charges. She said she had someone drop off the ax and maul. Smith sought the text thread on multiple times between Dec. 17, 2025, and Jan. 5, 2026, but never received the documentation.
