SANDPOINT — Clorrisa Koster is seeking a second term as Bonner County treasurer.
Koster, a North Idaho native and longtime Bonner County resident, was originally elected to the Bonner County Treasurer position in November 2022. She said she has made it a priority to educate all taxpayers on available exemptions, payment plans and other flexible means of property tax collections.
Koster said she is seeking reelection to continue providing the same level of dedication and support to all taxpayers, helping taxpayers avoid additional fees, penalties or the loss of property through proper education and assistance.
“I am honored to serve as your county treasurer. I look forward to continuing to provide the same level of dedication, professionalism, accountability, and transparency to all taxpayers that you expect and deserve,” Koster said.
During her time as treasurer, Koster said she has been part of many implemented improvements to assist taxpayers and increase accessibility, including the installation of a 24/7 video-monitored drop box outside the administration building for after-hour check payments, transitioning office opening time from 9 a.m. to 8 a.m. and negotiating a reduction in credit and debit card processing fees from 3% and 2.4% and a flat E-Check fee of $0.95, among other things.
Koster said another focus is keeping the department’s budget low, helping to minimize the tax impact of office operations. She said that despite Bonner County’s growth to about 50,000 tax parcels, the treasurer’s office has remained the same size for 35 years. She said managing the increase in volume is made possible by her implementation of a payment processing service that ensures accuracy and speed when processing a high volume of mail payments.
“I continue to prioritize the safeguarding of county funds, making sure rigorous safeguards are in place to protect our bank accounts from fraud and oversee all banking processes with the utmost care,” Koster said.
Koster started her career in Bonner County’s Treasurer’s Office in 1993, where she worked until May 2016, when she accepted a position as a staff accountant with the Bonner County Auditor.
Koster’s name will appear on the ballot during the May 19 primary elections. For more information, go online to https://bit.ly/40onQKA or email [email protected].
