Full caption: Local ice hockey players Rhys Taylor of Sandpoint, left, and Isaac Weisz of Sagle, right, recently won the Idaho Amateur Hockey Association's 2026 State Championship for the 14U (Bantam) Rep A Division. Competing for the Coeur d'Alene Thunder, the duo helped their team to two wins over the Sun Valley Suns of Sun Valley and Hailey (5-0; 5-2) and to a defeat of the Junior Steelheads of Boise (6-4) as they captured the title while playing at the Campion Ice House and the Sun Valley Indoor Ice Arena. Taylor and Weisz would like to sincerely thank Century West Engineering (Sandpoint), the CO-OP Gas & Supply Store (Ponderay), and the many other individual members of the Sandpoint area community who sponsored them, their team, and local ice hockey programs this season. The two have been playing with the Thunder for nine seasons, and both are excited about the prospect of the continued development of opportunities for future generations of kids to play competitive ice hockey in Bonner County.
