Coeur d'Alene High School junior Reagan-Edric Cogburn is participating in the Ella McKeirnan Memorial Fellowship at the Harper Cancer Research Institute at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana this summer.

The Ella McKeirnan Memorial Fellowship is an eight-week immersive cancer research program that provides high school students with hands-on laboratory experience under the guidance of university faculty mentors. Fellows engage in real cancer research and present their findings at the conclusion of the program. The fellowship is highly selective and fully funded.

Reagan-Edric is currently a dual-credit student and attends Kootenai Technical Education Campus, where she is working toward earning a certified nursing assistant license upon graduation. She has a strong passion for the medical sciences and plans to pursue a career in health care, with aspirations of becoming a physician or nurse. Reagan-Edric hopes to one day work with children with disabilities, combining her love of science with compassionate patient care.

Her selection for this fellowship reflects her academic dedication, curiosity in biomedical science and commitment to serving others through medicine.

"I wanted to contribute to the Ella McKeirnan fellowship because I truly try my hardest to help people every day," Reagan-Edric said. "This is an opportunity to use my love and knowledge of science to do good out into the world and further learn how to use my skills to do my best to help those in need."
