During a March 18 court docket set aside for arraignments, a Coeur d’Alene man is scheduled to enter a plea on multiple felony charges of sexual abuse.

Scott Dustin Smith, 49, has been charged with one count of lewd conduct with a child under 16 after allegedly committing a lewd and lascivious act and three counts of rape with the victim being between 16 and 17.

The alleged offenses occurred between 2013 and 2017.

At an arraignment hearing, a defendant has the opportunity to enter a plea to the charges against them. The court will set a trial date if Smith enters a not-guilty plea.

Smith posted a $150,000 bond Dec. 13, 2025, after being arrested Nov. 12 in Kootenai County.

A previous arraignment was scheduled for Feb. 4 but was delayed for unspecified reasons.

The lewd conduct charge was filed Nov. 6, 2025, before the three rape charges were added Dec. 11 by prosecuting attorney Andrakay Pluid.
