A Kalispell man arrested for allegedly vandalizing a neighbor's vehicle and threatening the victim against going to the authorities last year later received a pair of suspended jail sentences.
Daniel Christopher Walker, 37, was initially brought up on a felony charge of assault with a weapon and a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest in Flathead County District Court following his Feb. 14, 2025 arrest. Prosecutors later tacked on a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge.
Though Walker maintained his innocence at his April arraignment before Judge Paul Sullivan, he took a plea deal the following month.
In exchange for guilty pleas to the two misdemeanor counts, prosecutors agreed to drop the felony charge. Per the deal, prosecutors were to recommend Walker receive suspended six-month jail sentences for each of the misdemeanors and pay restitution.
Sullivan handed stuck to the terms of the agreement at Walker's May 29 sentencing. He ordered Walker to pay $1,028 in restitution and gave him credit for 14 days of time served.
Walker's arrest came after a neighbor at a Liberty Street apartment complex turned in video on Feb. 13, 2025 allegedly showing Walker knife a car tire. Investigators conducted interviews and documented the incident based on the video, according to court documents.
The neighbor called the police again about 2:21 a.m., Feb. 14, saying that Walker was now stalking outside his apartment threatening to stab him if he had any further contact with the authorities.
Responding officers were speaking with the victim when Walker exited his nearby apartment. Walker was subsequently arrested and a search turned up a knife in the pocket of his pants, court documents said.
Officers reported that Walker became combative on the drive to county jail, allegedly kicking and striking inside the patrol car.
