We have an open part-time cook’s helper position. Job applications are available at the center from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.
Our Transportation Service has limited rides available for seniors who provide 24 hour notice. The cost is $8 for a round trip. We only have one driver, and priority is given to health appointments. We try to be dependable, but cannot guarantee short-notice rides and times. Area 6 Council on Aging and CSKT Transit also provide rides; costs may vary. Please call the center for phone numbers.
Get help with your taxes from the AARP Tax Assistance Program on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, from now through April 15. You must register for an appointment and fill out an information packet. No charge is included, but donations to the senior center are welcome. Support AARP, which provides computers, fax machines for electronic filing, and a well-trained, experienced staff of licensed tax preparation volunteers to assist you.
A toenail clinic will be held in March. Please sign up to reserve a time. The cost is $30.
Cribbage will be organized weekly on Wednesdays in March. A name and phone number are required. All skill levels are welcome. This is not league-affiliated and has no fees.
Activities at the center, open to all, include: Wednesday Play Day to play cards, board games, dominoes, chess or mahjong (invite a foursome); self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; bingo at 6 p.m. and on the first Wednesdays of each month playing card bingo at 6:30 p.m. (elimination-style); and pinochle, 12:30 p.m. on Mondays (no pass) and Thursdays (standard), the card room will not be available on Feb. 19, which pay cause the game to move to the pool table area that day. The pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Bridge and Mahjong groups meet regularly at the center.
The Bowling Fun League is on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. at the Sportspage Bowl. The Spinning Wheelers meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; call 208-520-1013.
A veteran’s service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month. Kiwanis will meet at 12 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the center.
We have space for small groups to meet for social, health or educational purposes. Wednesdays are best; other weekdays are as well. Our community center is open for special events on weekends and evenings. Call for details.
Sit-down meals are available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays and are delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.
Upcoming main dishes include: meatloaf, March 11; chicken strips, March 12; Caesar salad with stir-fry veggies, March 13; beef barley soup, March 16; Traditional Irish Corned Beef and cabbage, March 17; chicken enchilada, March 18; and turkey pot pie, March 19; hamburger, fries and baked beans, March 20.
