Betty Hendricksen Johnson, 86, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 23, 1939, in Charlo to James and Coryl Hendricksen, Betty was the second of four daughters. She graduated from Charlo High School in 1957 and earned her RN degree from St. Patrick’s School of Nursing in 1960. She married Jim Johnson on Sept. 2, 1962, and together they raised three daughters.

Betty worked as a head surgical nurse and later as an OB/GYN office nurse. She was devoted to her family, attending every athletic event, sewing dance costumes and prom dresses, and creating warm, loving homes out of numerous acquired houses and West Fork cabins that Jim dealt in.

For nearly 30 years, she walked daily along U.S. 93, inspiring many with her dedication. She was also an enthusiastic Griz football fan who welcomed all to her Saturday gatherings.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Maribeth Talia (Joe Butsick) and her sons, James and Nik; her daughter, Cassandra Toth (James) and her children, Jackson (wife Katie) and Emerald; and her daughter, Marjorie Huls (Todd Townsend) and her children, Julia and Daniel. Also surviving are Betty’s three sisters, Myrtle McCurdy of Polson, Chris VanRonk of Philipsburg, and Patricia Brickzin of Superior.

Per her wishes, her ashes will be scattered up the West Fork. Condolences may be shared at dalyleachchapel.com.
