Louise Capparelli Graffenberger, 92, lifelong resident of Shoshone County, Idaho, passed away peacefully at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, Idaho, on March 9, 2026. Louise was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Terror Gulch, outside Osburn, Idaho.

Louise was known to be a very independent woman. She married Paul Graffenberger on July 8, 1950. They had two children, Paula (Floyd) Olson of Thompson Falls, Mont., and Lou Smith on Delta-Murray Road in Wallace, Idaho. Louise had a granddaughter, Kristi (Joe) Lutes of Rathdrum, Idaho, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a grandson, Andy Philpot; one sister; and all of her brothers.

Louise loved everything outdoors: fishing, hunting, cutting firewood and gardening. She bowled in a league and played baseball.

She was very lucky in having the greatest next-door neighbors, Eugene Lyon on one side and Sue Halley on the other. They treated Louise with great kindness and were a big help.

At Louise’s request, no services will be held.

Memories of Louise and messages of condolence may be shared with her family online at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services of the Silver Valley is assisting the family with arrangements.
