Mark Michael Horning, 64, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away suddenly March 13, 2026, while doing what he loved, skiing. Mark was born April 19, 1961, in Kellogg, Idaho, at the old Wardner Hospital, a son of Harold and Betty (Eid) Horning.
Mark graduated from Wallace High School, and soon after, he left to travel across the United States as a sound system audio technician. He moved back to the Silver Valley in the 1990s and started working in 1997 as an automotive detailer for Dave Smith. Finally retiring in 2024, he spent all the time he could in the woods four-wheeling, camping or hunting. During the winter months, he could be found skiing the slopes and having fun in the powder.
He was a kind, loving man who stuck to his family and friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Harold Horning.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlyn Horning and her husband, Alexander Bentiez of Osburn, Idaho; his mother, Betty Horning of Osburn, Idaho; a brother, Bruce (Kim) Horning of Graton, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Ophelia Benitez.
A celebration of his life will be held on his birthday, Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 3 p.m., at City Limits in Wallace, Idaho. The gathering is a potluck, so please bring a dish to share.
