Sandy Byington, age 81, of Big Creek, Idaho, passed from this life March 13, 2026. She was born in Park Rapids, Minn., on July 21, 1944, to Ervin and Velva Goldsmith. The family moved to Kellogg in 1949. She grew up in the Kellogg area, where she met and married Don Byington.
Sandy was well known in the Silver Valley, where she worked at DB’s Café, Sunnyside Drug and the Sunshine Mine.
She is survived by her husband, Don, of 65 years. She also leaves two daughters, Penny Johnson (Ken) of Rathdrum and Lori Clark (Mike) of Sagle. She is survived by five grandchildren, Amanda Chapman, Brian Hamilton, Corri Laine, Dana Phillips and Kayci Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren, Maddi, Gracie, Aylin, Lily, Molly, Phoenix, Vienna, Eisley, Reighan and Linden; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aspen. She is also survived by a sister, Pat Wolfe; and two brothers, Tom Goldsmith (Carol), Jack Goldsmith (Laurie) and sister-in-law Carol Goldsmith (Bob).
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Goldsmith. She was dearly loved by her family and will be missed terribly.
