COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Williams named Frontier Conference Sixth Man of the Year

Asher Williams, Montana Tech University Basketball

A 2025 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Asher, a 6-foot-6-inch freshman forward, recorded 18 points (3-7 FG), which included a 3-pointer and a perfect 11-for-11 effort from the charity stripe, and chipped in four rebounds and a block across 27 minutes of action as No. 9 Montana Tech downed No. 8 Oklahoma City by a score of 91-87 in NAIA National Championship first round tournament action on March 13 in Bartlesville, Okla. The former Badger standout, recently named the Frontier Conference Sixth-Man of the Year, also had a 3-pointer, two rebounds, two assists and a steal in the Orediggers' 67-46 loss to No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan in the second round of the NAIA National Championship tournament on March 14. Montana Tech, coached by Bonners Ferry High graduate Adam Hiatt, finished the season with a record of 23-9.

Braylyn Bayer, Weber State University Golf

A 2024 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Braylyn, a sophomore, placed tied for 24th out of 68 golfers with a 10-over-par total gross (73-79-74) across three rounds at the Northern Arizona University Red Rocks Invitational held March 13 through 15 at the Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz. The former Lady Badger standout had seven birdies, four of which came on the back nine of her 2-over-par 74 third round, and fired in 31 pars for the Lady Wildcats, which finished third out of 11 scoring teams. Weber State is idle until April 13 through 15, when they'll head to the Bobcat Desert Classic hosted by Montana State University at Estrella Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
