Thomas Sharbono, 78
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 34 minutes AGO
Our Papa was most passionate about family, taking walks, watching his grandkids play sports and running. He loved bacon, ice cream, helping us with math and being on “hair patrol” after our baths. He took us to Jack in the Box for breakfast, loved going on trips and picking up cans while walking his grand-dogs, Izzy and Henry. He loved taking care of his grandchildren, Beckham, Finn, Knox and Banks, a lot as he was spoiling us all of the time and making us the best bacon and sausage. We will all miss him so, so very much (Written by Beckham Tate Sharbono).
“Papa” Thomas Edward Sharbono, age 78, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away March 7, 2026.
Tom was born Jan. 13, 1948, in Devils Lake, N.D. Tom married Kris in 1980, and together they shared 45 years of marriage. They built a life together in Coeur d’Alene, where they raised two children and were active within the community and youth athletics.
He worked as an educator and salesman in his career and was known for the epic ice cream parties he would put on at the schools he served.
In Tom’s free time, he enjoyed hunting pheasants with his golden retrievers and fishing for halibut in Alaska, which became a special place for him, but his heart grew three sizes attending, supporting and encouraging his children, grandchildren and their friends in their academic and athletic activities. He was an annual mainstay and leader of the Kroc Center Red Kettle Campaign and loved the impact it had on his community.
Tom’s memory will live on with his wife, Kris Sharbono; son and daughter-in-law, Kip and Erica Sharbono; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Kai Sharbono and Dr. Eric Cohen; And especially with his four most loved and supported grandchildren, Beckham Sharbono (10), Knox Cohen (10), Finn Sharbono (8), and Banks Cohen (7).
A small family gathering will be held to spread his ashes in locations most meaningful to Papa Tom.
English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with his care.
