John Wallace Pierce Jr., 81
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 35 minutes AGO
John Wallace Pierce Jr., of Smelterville, Idaho, finished his course on earth March 12, 2026, and is now resting peacefully awaiting resurrection morning. His confidence in Christ, as His Lord and Savior, was firm to the end. John was born Dec. 1, 1944, in Mountain Home, Idaho.
John spent a good portion of his time in Washington state, graduating from Walla Walla College, where he met his wife, Diana Canty. Later, he returned to Idaho as a pastor, where he and Diana opened Restoration House, a transitional home for women, and the 2nd Chances Thrift Store in Smelterville.
John’s greatest joy was to share his love of Jesus with others. He and Diana worked together to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the Silver Valley. John was a master of many trades, enjoyed a good book, an old Chevy and growing food in his garden. He was a man of few but insightful words.
He will be missed by his wife, Diana; his two children, Matthew and Stacy, along with their spouses; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Debbie; his brother, Dave; and many other “adopted” family members.
At John’s request, cremation has taken place and services are being planned for a future date.
Memories of John and messages of condolence may be shared online with his family at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services of the Silver Valley is caring for the Pierce family.
