MULLAN — Coeur d’Alene senior Caden Symons, who signed with Evansville in November, scored 19 points and earned MVP honors as the West All-Stars rallied past the East All-Stars 75-72 in the 39th annual District 1 All-Star Game on Thursday at the Mullan Pavilion.
Symons also won the slam dunk contest at halftime of the boys game.
St. Maries senior Jack Barta defeated girls champion Kylee Phillips of Wallace to win the 3-point contest.
Connor Carver (Post Falls) and Draeden Taylor (Kellogg) scored 12 points each for the East.

Trojans drop a pair
at Buck's Bags tourney
NAMPA — Senior Ben Carrasco singled to score Bryce Berger with two outs in the top of the fourth inning to give the Trojans an 8-7 lead, but the host Warhawks rallied with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to get the 12-8 win at the Buck’s Bags Spring Classic at Ridgevue High.
Karl Berend and Ayden Carrasco scored two runs each for Post Falls against Ridgevue (2-1).
Against Twin Falls, Ayden Carrasco had two hits and an RBI single in the first inning for the Trojans in a loss to the Bruins at Ridgevue.
Post Falls walked 10 batters in the game.
“I think we’re learning what this team is still,” Post Falls coach Kurt Reese said. “We’re getting the rust off, but it’s been difficult with the weather we’ve had at home, and we’re seeing the results of not being outside.”
Twin Falls is 5-1.
Post Falls (0-3) faces Reynolds High of Troutdale, Ore., today at Borah High in Boise.

CALDWELL — Senior Eric Wylie allowed four hits over six innings, striking out four for the 4A Tigers, who allowed a run on an RBI groundout in the bottom of the third that proved to be the difference in a loss to the 5A Falcons of Caldwell in the Buck’s Bags Spring Classic at Vallivue High.
Sophomore Gage Tenney had two hits for Timberlake (1-1), which was unable to get a runner past second base.
Clay Cope drove in Ethan Montoya for Vallivue (2-4).

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior KaeLee Kolden drove in three runs, two on a double to highlight a five-run second inning, and the Timberwolves built an 8-2 lead after four innings before holding on to beat the visiting Hawks.
Macy Waterhouse went 3 for 4 with three runs scored for Lake City (2-1).
Kolden also had an RBI single in the fourth, and Madeline Peterson struck out eight for the Timberwolves.
Kiersten Drake had two hits and two RBIs for Lakeland (2-3), including a solo homer in the seventh.
Lake City is scheduled to play Riverside and Liberty Christian on Saturday at the Richland (Wash.) Mixer.
Lakeland plays host to Sandpoint next Tuesday in a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader.

SPIRIT LAKE — Sophomore Shae Jones went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, and struck out six in five innings, allowing three hits and one (unearned) run, as the Tigers beat the Eagles of Spokane.
Jones and Khloe Perkl each hit two-run singles in a nine-run fourth inning for Timberlake (1-1).
Perkl finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Sadie Green was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
“Much better game today," said first-year Timberlake coach Jenny Whaley, whose Tigers lost 7-5 to Clarkston on Tuesday. “Shae was dominant on the mound, and Prestyn (Gardner) had a lot more confidence catching this game. Each kid came focused and ready to improve from the last game. Khloe Perkl and Saydie Green set the stage for us to be successful. Overall it was a great day to be a Tiger.”
