CHICAGO — Lake City High junior Jordan Carlson was named 2025-26 Gatorade Idaho Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Carlson, a 6-foot-8, 205-pound forward, led the Timberwolves (19-8) to the class 6A state title recently, averaging 17.7 points, seven rebounds and 3 assists per game this season. Carlson averaged 19.3 points on 51.3% shooting at state

The 6A Inland Empire League Co-Player of the Year this year, he was a second team All-Idaho selection as a sophomore.

Carlson has volunteered locally with the faith-based youth group Young Life. He has also donated his time to coaching youth basketball camps and participated in season-long efforts by his team to raise funds to fight Noonan Disease, recognize the contributions of community first responders and support Teacher Appreciation Night.

“If you’re building a state championship roster, Jordan Carlson is where you start,” Sandpoint coach Will Love said. “He blends a natural feel for the game with a growing skill set that makes him an anchor at both ends of the floor. Most importantly, Jordan is committed to helping himself and his teammates become the best they can be, both on and off the court.”

Carlson is the second Lake City player in four years to be so honored; Blake Buchanan earned Gatorade honors in 2023.

Other North Idaho boys to be honored over the years include Kase Wynott of Lapwai (2024), Titus Yearout of Lapwai (2022), Jake Pfennigs of Post Falls (2018) and Rod Hill of St. Maries (1987).

Carlson has maintained a weighted 3.99 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
