PREP BASKETBALL: Area athletes compete at Mullan all-star games

BOYS

West 75, East 72 

MULLAN — Coeur d’Alene High senior Caden Symons, an NCAA Division I Evansville University commit, scored 19 points and earned MVP honors as the West All-Stars rallied past the East All-Stars 75-72 in the 39th annual District 1 All-Star Game on Thursday at the Mullan Pavilion. 

Symons also won the slam dunk contest at halftime of the boys game. 

St. Maries High senior Jack Barta defeated girls champion Kylee Phillips of Wallace to win the 3-point contest. 

Connor Carver (Post Falls) and Draeden Taylor (Kellogg) scored 12 points each for the East. 

Bonners Ferry High senior Sulay Abubakari chipped in two points for the West.

MULLAN — Kyleigh Wolfe of Lakeside High scored 14 points and earned MVP honors as the West All-Stars defeated the East All-Stars in the 39th annual District 1 All-Star Game at the Mullan Pavilion. 

Chelsey Cate of North Idaho Christian scored 19 points for the West. Clark Fork High seniors Priscilla Mayorga and Piper Scarlett scored seven points and five points, respectively.

Kailey Walton of Post Falls High scored 14 points for the East. Sandpoint High senior Summer Loutzenhiser recorded eight points and fellow senior Jasmin Laing had three points in the contest.
