Stephen Cutaiar, 69, passed peacefully in his sleep after a long illness March 2, 2026.

He was born in Philadelphia on Dec. 12, 1956, to John and Theresa Cutaiar. He was the middle child of seven siblings.

He went to parochial school and was active in the church as an altar boy. After graduating in 1975, he joined the Army, where he served as a munitions expert and helicopter mechanic. He finished his service in 1981 at Fort Ord.

He met his love, Suzanne Bouchard, in Cambria, Calif., where they lived for 15 years and he started an HVAC apprenticeship. They had two sons, Stephen Luke, and Ryan John. He was so very proud of them. In 1993, they moved to North Idaho, where his wife was from and started his own business, All Seasons Heating & Air. They explored the Pacific Northwest and parts of Canada, camping and fishing along the way. He fell in love with the small lakes all over the region. These lakes were his peace, but the four grandchildren that came along were his Joy. He retired in 2018-19 after 30 years and spent more time on his favorite lakes until his health slowed him down.

He is survived by his wife and sons; a wonderful daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; five siblings; many nieces and nephews; and his Aunt, Rosemarie.

He was funny, had a caring heart under a grumpy exterior and was a good, honest man. He will be deeply missed.

No services will be held, per his request. A family scattering will be held this spring to return him to his beloved lakes. Please visit Stephen’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
