PREP SOFTBALL: Davenport's triple lifts Coeur d'Alene to walkoff win

RICHLAND, Wash. — Junior Jenna Davenport hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday, lifting Coeur d’Alene past Lake Washington of Kirkland, Wash., 6-5 in its second game of the day at the Richland Mixer at Columbia Playfield. 

In the first game, Davenport struck out 12 as Coeur d’Alene (3-0) defeated North Creek of Bothell, Wash., 6-2. 

In the second game, Ollie Dudley walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh for the Vikings, and Kyndal Bridge singled with one out. Davenport tripled to right-center field to score both and end the game. 

Davenport also hit a two-run homer in the third inning, and finished with four RBIs for the Vikings. 

Freshman Savannah Stevens struck out 11 for Coeur d’Alene. 

Against North Creek, Molly Nelson and Kyndal Bridge each had two hits for Coeur d’Alene.  

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Moscow on Tuesday in a doubleheader.

wins two in Richland 

RICHLAND, Wash. — Mia Kesner struck out six in the opener, and Tabitha Lopez scattered seven hits in the second game as Lake City beat Riverside of Chattaroy, Wash., 18-2 and Liberty Christian of Richland at the Richland Mixer at Columbia Playfield. 

In the first game, Madeline Peterson hit a two-run single in the first inning for Lake City, and finished 4 for 4 with three RBIs and four runs scored. 

Alexandria Routon went 4 for 8 on the day, with three RBIs and two runs scored. 

“I thought we did an awesome job at the plate today,” Lake City coach Jordyn Hensley said. “Everyone contributed up at bat and helped put up runs. I am really proud of Mia and Tabitha, they both pitched really solid games. They threw strikes and pounded the zone.” 

Lake City (4-1) plays host to Lewiston in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
