Jeanne Cook Thompson

Feb. 23, 1946, Jeanne Cook Thompson, 80, was born in a little corner-house hospital in Whitefish, Montana, to Jack and Wynn Cook. She peacefully passed away March 14, 2026, at the Libby Care Center at the age of 80 after a long illness.
Jeanne spent most of her school years in Libby, Montana, graduating from Libby High School in 1964. In 1965, she married David Hill and they welcomed sons, Brian and Thomas. Although that marriage ended, the families always remained close.
After living in various towns as a child and as an adult, Jeanne made her way back to Libby where she met Russell Thompson. They married in 1974 and blended their wonderful families with children Tim, Terri, Karolee, and Lisa.
Jeanne worked many years as a purchasing agent for the Kootenai National Forest; working in the fire camps was always an adventure for her. She was an exceptional cook and loved feeding her family. She was known for fun holiday gatherings with family and friends; always making the holidays special.
Countless fun-filled times were shared with her many near and dear friends who loved Jeanne, and whom she loved. Jeanne and Russ followed their children in sporting activities, no matter how far they had to drive. They were a constant on the bleachers, cheering on their kids. Jeanne loved crafting, golfing, aerobics, long walks and she couldn’t get enough lake life and sunshine.
Jeanne was an extremely loving mom to her children who were always the joy of her life. She was an admired and cherished big sister to her siblings, Jim and Susan. She was a beloved grandma, great-grandma and aunt.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Brian (Shannon) Thompson; Tom Thompson, Tim Thompson, Terri (Craig) Rowan, Karolee (Rob) Jones; Lisa (Glenn) Modler; siblings, James Cook and Susan Roberson; numerous cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Thompson; parents, Jack and Wynn Cook; grandparents, Thomas and Catherine Bolitho, Fred and Ethel Cook; daughter-in-law, Cathy Thompson; and ex-husband, David Hill.
No funeral services are planned. A celebration of life for family and friends will be July 25, 2026. Details forthcoming.
