William E. Simm went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2026, after a prolonged battle with cancer. Bill died at home with his family at his side; his wife of 50 years, Kendell Simm and his daughters — his pearls of great price — Angela and Megan Simm.

Bill was kind, funny and the perfect girl dad. Sharing the love and compassion of Christ with his words and deeds, Bill was loved by many he met. It was not unusual for total strangers to share with him their life stories. Bill graduated from Boise Bible college and served many churches over the years. Most recently, he was a servant at North Summit Church.

Bill is survived by his three grandchildren: Jasmine (Jamie) Ehrlich-Simm, Isabella (Izzy) Downs and River (Space) Simm-Simpson. Sean Simpson son-in-law, Kris Kurrus brother-in law, Aria (Ben) Kurrus and many other wonderful nieces and nephews. Bill had many devoted friends who were always checking in with him.

He comes from a large loving family growing up as a farm boy in Iowa. Bill grew up on the family farm in Iowa with his five siblings, Kent, Bruce, Joyce, Beth and Laura and was preceded in death by his amazing parents William L and Vi Simm.

Over the years, the reunions and family gatherings have always been full of laughter, love and wonderful blessed memories.

Bill loved his career in forestry and fighting fires. He was a Sandpoint volunteer fireman and fought forest fires. He would come home exhausted and smelling of smoke, yet with the biggest grin. He lived in California for a while and worked in a variety of jobs to support his family. He enjoyed an active lifestyle, walking along the beach, camping, boating, snow skiing and most of all running. He ran for miles every day of his life, until he couldn't.

Whenever we hear the theme song for "Wyatt Earp" or "Gunsmoke" we think of Bill.

A celebration of Bill' s life and funeral will be held at North Summit Church at noon March 27 with reception to follow at the church. His burial will take place at Pack River Cemetery on March 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the missionary fund at the church of your choice.

Family and friends are invited to sign Bill's online guest book at coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
