The Columbia Falls baseball team should be right in the mix for a divisional title again this year with a solid core of returning players.

The Wildcats under head coach Chad Green welcome back starting pitcher junior Jett Pitts, along with Nico Young and Zeke Dunn also expected to provide quality time on the mound.

The team also will look for good things from returning players Jory Hill, Derek Juntunnen,  Connor Magnuson and Wyatt Dodson, to name a few.

Hill, Jaxson Cadwell and Tristan Victor will anchor the outfield. Hill is one of the best outfielders in the state, Green noted.

This is an athletic squad with plenty of multi-sport players. Last year they went 18-3 and won the division and the goal is to do that again this year.

“We stay healthy, we’ll be OK,” Green said.

They have 20 games scheduled with the season opener on the road March 28 against Bigfork at 1 p.m.

Their home opener is against Polson March 31. With the Flathead and Glacier now fielding teams, they play the AA schools as well, though the games are non-conference.

Green is assisted by Scott Corbett, who is the JV coach and Austin Green, and Brendan Rice.

All of the assistants were standout ball players in their time. Austin is Green’s son and both him and Rice are Columbia Falls policemen.
