Jeffrey Lane Mackaman, 70

Jeffrey "Hippie" Lane Mackaman, 70, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 9, 2026, after telling stories of logging, mining, and gold detecting. He was surrounded by family and his best friend, Bill Roland. 

Jeff was born Dec. 20, 1955, in Whitefish, to Dixie (Briggs) and Larry Mackaman. He was raised and stayed in Whitefish into his early adult life, working alongside his dad, Larry, who owned a logging company.

Jeff met Joyce in 1987. They moved to Winnemucca, Nevada, where he started his 30 plus year career in surface and underground mining. In 1989, Jeff and Joyce welcomed their oldest daughter, Amber. In 1999, they welcomed another daughter, Makayla, to make their family complete. He enjoyed his life as a husband and father, and later in life, being a grandpa.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann; brother, Kevin Mackaman of Stevensville; daughters, Amber (Mike) Solberg of Winnemucca, Nevada and Makayla (Omar) Valdez of Winnemucca, and grandchildren, Ashton Solberg and Kiara Valdez.
