MOSCOW — Senior Bam Fenter struck out nine and walked three in a five-inning no-hitter as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings defeated the Moscow Bears 17-0 on Tuesday at the Moscow School District Community Playfields.

“We were just trying to get him locked in on the mound, and he did a really good job with his command,” second-year Coeur d'Alene coach Brandon Williams said. “Bam leading off and going 4 for 5 with four RBIs really set the tone. Moscow put the ball in play, but we really emphasized our defense and trying to get back to the basics on Monday at practice. When the guys got the chance, they really did what we were drilling on.”

Senior Ryder Bishop had three RBIs and three runs scored and senior Colten Nordman went 3 for 3 with an RBI for Coeur d’Alene (2-1), which travels to Sandpoint on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Moscow (2-1) is scheduled to host Lake City on Thursday.

“There’s some stuff we need to take care of,” Lake City coach Gil Pierce said. “Defensively, we didn’t come through and made some mental errors. Our pitching was really good today and once we get things firing on all cylinders, I think we’re going to be fine. We just need to put seven innings together and learn to play all seven innings.”
