Carla passed away comfortably on Dec. 13, 2025, in Athol, Idaho with her daughter and immediate family, including Dave and Cathy Evenson by her side. She was 85 years old. She spent the last several years in a courageous battle with frontal temporal degeneration, a form of dementia.

Carla was born on Feb 27, 1940, in Kalispell to her parents Carl and Betty Toycen of Swan Lake.

She spent her younger life growing up with her only sister Barbara (Toycen) Amestoy, of Proctor, on their family ranch in the Swan Valley. Carla attended elementary school in Swan Lake, then on to high school in Bigfork where she graduated in 1958.

Carla married her husband of 52 years George Michael "Sonny" Kahn Jr. of Kalispell in 1958. They returned to the Swan Valley soon after and would spend the rest of their lives working and living in Swan Lake, where they raised their only daughter Kelly Ann (Kahn) Grant.

She spent her entire life as a part of the Swan Lake community where she was always there to help anyone in need. She loved her community tirelessly helping with any function from the Community Hall, Swan Chapel, to the Fire Department, often times behind the scenes, however you always knew that if it happened in Swan Lake Carla was a part of it. In her spare time, she loved photography, never missing an opportunity to drive miles to get a photo, or to just step outside for the sunset, and of course thousands of her beloved Swan Lake. Most of all Carla loved her grandchildren Logan and Lorna, and great-grandchildren, Ace, Kennedy, Gunnison, Hudson and Oaklynn.

Carla was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Betty Toycen, Ferndale, sister, Barbara Amestoy, Proctor and husband, George "Sonny" Kahn, Swan Lake.

She is survived by, daughter and son-in-law, Doug and Kelly Grant, Athol, Idaho, Logan and Sarah Grant, Dexter, Michigan, Marc and Lorna Dretke, Hayden, Idaho, and great-grandchildren, Ace, Kennedy, Gunnison, Hudson and Oaklynn.

Please join us to honor and remember Carla at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 at the Swan Lake Community Hall. Everyone is welcome.
