Full caption: Sandpoint's Cecilia Dignan recently committed to continue her soccer career at Ave Maria University (NAIA) in Ave Maria, Fla. A 5-foot-6-inch center defender, Dignan was both the 5A Inland Empire League MVP and a 5A All-State First Team selection in 2025. A four-time all-league recipient and a three-time all-state pick, the standout senior has led the Lady Bulldogs to four consecutive 5A District 1-2 Championships, to a state championship in 2023, and to a runner-up finish at state in 2024. Across the last four seasons, she's anchored a back line that boasts a 164-111 goal differential and a record of 37-28-8. "I think Cecilia has what it takes to start and make an instant impact at any university, so I'm excited she gets to go to the one that she wants to,” Sandpoint High head girls soccer coach Alan Brinkmeier said. “She has the work ethic to succeed in this. She'll continue working with us, current players, over the summer, so we'll have her prepped and ready to go. She will do great and I'm excited to see what the future holds."
