Aspen Graham – Participant No. 5
Bonners Ferry Rotary is happy to sponsor Aspen Graham. Aspen is the daughter of Forest and Jenny Graham. She has one sister, Willow. After graduation, Aspen would like to pursue post-secondary education with a focus on entrepreneurship. Extracurricular activities she enjoys include volleyball, Track and Field, TPUSA, and car detailing. Aspen is interested in modern personalities Riley Gaines, Spencer Barbosa, and Bethany Hamilton. She is interested in historical personality Amelia Earhart. For her talent, Aspen will be showcasing a vocal performance.
When asked what makes Aspen most proud of her generation, she states, “Our consciousness. We are aware of the world and the challenges ahead of us. We take our future very seriously.”
Sadie Newhouse – Participant No. 6
The Bonners Ferry Rod Benders club is delighted to sponsor Sadie Newhouse. Sadie is the daughter of Adam and Julie Newhouse. She has one sister, Janey, and two brothers, Jay and Rick. After high school, Sadie would like to attend Brigham Young University - Idaho to pursue psychology or architecture. Outside of school, she enjoys pottery, crocheting, and painting with acrylic. Sadie is interested in modern personality Ryan Reynolds and historical personality Marilyn Monroe. For her talent, Sadie will be showcasing her skills in creating pottery.
When asked what makes Sadie least proud of her generation, she states, “Our reliance on technology and AI to do simple tasks.”
Frankie Johnson – Participant No. 7
Bonners Ferry Rotary is pleased to sponsor Francesca (Frankie) Johnson. Frankie is the daughter of Kyle and Jessica Nordheim. She has two sisters, Josie and Grace, and one brother, Devin. After graduation, Frankie would like to attend the University of Montana and pursue a career in dental hygiene. She stays active with student council, National Honor Society, and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). Frankie is interested in modern personalities Riley G. Barker and Candace Owens. She is interested in historical personality Eleanor Roosevelt. For her talent, Frankie will be performing a dance skit.
When asked what makes Frankie most proud of her generation, she states, “My generation is bringing back uniqueness and encouraging each other to be different.”
Callie Bateman – Participant No. 8
Boundary County Middle School Leadership is honored to sponsor Callie Bateman. Callie is the daughter of Cal and Melissa Bateman. She has five brothers, Brady, Seth, Bo, Trey, and Dax. After high school, Callie plans to attend Brigham Young University to pursue a career in elementary education. Extracurricular activities she enjoys include golf, time with friends and family, fingernail art, and bedazzling everything! Callie is interested in modern personality Ross Lynch and historical personality Rosa Parks. For her talent, Callie will be performing an American Sign Language cover song.
When asked what makes Callie least proud of her generation, she states, “What makes me least proud of this generation is how much rely on social media and compare ourselves to our peers.”
The Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women Scholarship program is funded entirely through donations and support from local businesses and community members. Last year, the program awarded more than $13,000 in scholarships to local participants. This year’s Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women program will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Becker Auditorium. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 13, at Mountain Mike’s Health Food Store. Tickets are $15, with proceeds supporting the scholarship fund. Seats are reserved, and early purchase is encouraged.
