Supporters of Orchard Ridge Senior Living will present their third theatrical production, “The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns,” April 10-12 at the Kroc Center.
A nostalgic musical celebration of beloved 1950s hits, the story of "Caps and Gowns" follows four high school friends on graduation night who reunite 10 years later in Act Two, which is filled with laughter, memories and iconic songs of the 1960s.
“We are honored to be able to contribute this piece to Orchard Ridge. Each actor brings such a distinct personality to their role — you’ll recognize someone you know in every character,” Director Lorna Hamilton said in a March 19 news release. “And with our stellar five-piece band, you’ll be singing along all night.”
With so much talent found in North Idaho, organizers said it’s important to create opportunities for performers to share their gifts. For audiences who love great harmonies and rock and roll, this show is must-see.
Starring local stars Brienna Johnson, McKenzie Washington, Shoshana Rubli and Naomi Rubli, the production is backed by musicians Tom Kuntz, Craig Catlett, Robert McPherson, Tom Richards and Olena Mevsha. Audience favorites include “Sealed with a Kiss,” “Wishin’ and Hopin’,” “River Deep, Mountain High” and “Rockin’ Robin.”
Tickets are $30 and available at kroccda.org or at the Kroc Center, 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene.
Proceeds from this musical will aid Orchard Ridge in its mission to provide compassionate, faith-based care for older adults. Since 1921, Orchard Ridge has served North Idaho as a nonprofit senior living community, offering independent living, assisted living and memory care. Support from this production will help sustain programs, enrich resident experiences and continue a long-standing legacy of excellence and compassionate care.
