Kathaleen R. Johnson, 92
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 hours, 36 minutes AGO
Kathaleen Roberta Johnson, a longtime Rathdrum, Idaho, resident, passed away March 24, 2026. Katie was born May 12, 1933, in Nampa, Idaho, to Ralph and Josephine Piersol. She grew up in Council, Idaho, later living in Rosalia and Spangle, Wash., before graduating from Kamiah High School in 1951.
Katie married Richard J. "Jack" Johnson on June 3, 1951. Together, they raised nine children and built a life centered on hard work and family. She worked alongside Jack as a meat cutter at their business, Clearwater Custom Cutting, in Kamiah, Idaho. In 1971, the family moved to Rathdrum, where Katie worked as a baker in Coeur d'Alene and a meat cutter at Harry's Market before retiring from meat wrapping at Y-J Packing in Coeur d'Alene.
In retirement, Katie ran a successful Avon business, earning multiple awards for her initiative. She and Jack also raised chickens and rabbits and sold eggs — a joy for them both. Katie was a devoted embroiderer; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren treasure the beautiful kitchen towels she made by hand. After Jack's passing, Kathaleen moved from the family farm.
Kathaleen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her children: Jerry Johnson (Sandy), Hayden, Idaho; Tom Johnson (Laura), Athol, Idaho; Steve Johnson (Jeannette), Rathdrum, Idaho; Ann Marie Hasfurther (Dan), Reno, Nev.; Anthony Johnson (Karla), Miles City, Mont.; Dennis Johnson (Victoria), Lewiston, Idaho; Chanelle McIntosh, Rathdrum, Idaho; Lorraine Wuolle (Wayne), Cataldo, Idaho; and Rosanne Lee (Steve), Newman Lake, Wash.; as well as 26 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary service will be held Monday evening, March 30, at 6 p.m., at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 31, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rathdrum, Idaho, followed by graveside services at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum, Idaho. A reception in the parish hall will follow to celebrate Katie's life.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Auburn Crest Hospice Care and Wellsprings Meadow for their loving and excellent care of Katie.
