NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals drop two to No. 17 Salt Lake

WORLEY — Charlie Stern, a sophomore from Mead High in Spokane, hit a two-run single to tie the second game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third inning for North Idaho College, but the 17th-ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins used a four-run top of the sixth to pull away for an 11-5 victory and a sweep in Scenic West Athletic Conference play at the Marimn Health Coeur Center on Friday.
Salt Lake limited NIC to one hit in the opener.
Emily Hanchey, a sophomore from Kimberly High, had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored in the second game for NIC (12-19, 5-5 SWAC).
Brecka Larson struck out 11 for Salt Lake (23-7, 12-2).
The teams play another doubleheader today at noon in Worley.
