KOOSKIA — Junior Nate Beardsall struck out 13 over 5 2/3 no-hit innings for the Timberlake Tigers in a 13-0 win over the Clearwater Valley Rams in the Southfork tournament at Clearwater Valley High on Friday.

Beardsall had to come out with two out in the sixth after throwing 89 pitches (88 is the limit for the first 30 days of the season).

Sophomore Gage Tenney and senior Hunter Horn drove in two runs each for Timberlake (4-3).

Barak Meyer singled with two outs in the top of the fifth to break up the no-hitter for Clearwater Valley (3-2).

Against Portland Christian, senior Eric Wylie allowed one hit over 5 2/3 innings, striking out 10 as the Tigers beat Portland Christian 10-0.

“Both Eric and Nate threw the ball really well and gave us a chance to save some arms this weekend,” Timberlake coach Bryce Johnson said. “They were both really efficient and on their ‘A’ game, which was huge for us. Both did a good job of getting into advantage counts, and we played great defense behind them.”

Beardsall and junior Gage Haines drove in two runs each for Timberlake against Portland Christian (2-2).

Timberlake (5-3) faces North Star Charter (of Eagle) and Potlatch today to conclude the tournament.
