NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals swept by 17th-ranked Bruins for second straight day

WORLEY — The 17th-ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins swept a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader from North Idaho College 18-5 and 12-4 at the Marimn Health Coeur Center on Saturday.
Aspen Roberts, a freshman from Riverton, Utah, went 3 for 4 with three runs scored in the opener for NIC, hitting a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Savannah Palmatier had three hits and five RBIs in the first game for Salt Lake, which took all four games in the weekend series.
In the second game, Jazmine Prathan homered twice and drove in five runs for the Bruins (21-7, 14-2 SWAC), who have won 14 straight games.
Freshman Maycee Madsen, Roberts' teammate at Riverton High, had two hits and two RBIs in the second game for NIC (12-21, 5-7), which hosts the College of Southern Idaho next Friday and Saturday in Worley.
